Building the Kingdom of God (BTKoG)
Campaign Updates

Dear Parishioners of St. Luke,
I received an email from the archdiocese this morning (1/17) informing us that Life Church has decided to buy another property instead of ours. I think our next step is to thank St. Luke and St. Joseph for their help, and to re-dedicate ourselves to good stewardship—which means making a serious, concerted effort to renew our parish spiritually, emotionally and financially. We need to come together, pray together and work together to build our new home. The ancient Hebrews wandered in the desert for 40 years before finding theirs. With St. Luke, St. Joseph and the Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen and inspire us, I think we can beat that.
My thanks to all of you who worked so hard on this project, and who work so hard and gladly to serve the people of St. Luke every day. Let us take to heart the words of Psalm 27:
Wait for the Lord with courage; Be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord.
More details to follow.

When we received permission to start a Capital Campaign in 2019 to begin Phase 2 of our Riverstone Ranch Campus, we needed an architect that could carry out our vision. Three architectural companies were interviewed, and Studio Red was chosen. During the month of November 2019, architects Trung Doan and Sheila Rowley, met with over thirty staff and ministry leads to understand their needs for offices, storage and meeting spaces. They took this research into consideration to draft the plans for our future multipurpose building, The Family Life Center. This multipurpose building would serve as our offices, meeting rooms, social hall and temporary worship space until we are able to begin Phase 3 of our Master Plan (note: the exact buildings for this phase will depend on our financial status at that time).
Then in 2020, COVID hit and everything shut down, including our plans for the Capital Campaign. We made it through those difficult times and at the beginning of this year, we began looking at the plans again. Last month, we received a pleasant surprise, as a non-denominational congregation approached us about purchasing our Hall Road Campus. That inquiry led to a meeting on August 12, 2022, with Cardinal DiNardo and the Archdiocesan Building Review Commission, to ask for permission to sell our Hall Rd Campus and kick off a Capital Campaign for Phase 2. We were granted permission to proceed and were told by the Cardinal and the Building Review Commission that they were supportive of our future plans.
So, what are the next steps?
We will need to have an official appraisal of our Hall Rd Campus. Our campus is owned by the Archdiocese, so all arrangements for the appraisal and (hopeful) sale, will be done by them. We’ve been told that the appraisal process may take 30-45 days to complete. If an agreement can be made with the potential buyer’s realtor, the proceeds of the sale of our campus would go towards the construction of our new multipurpose building.
We are in the planning stages for our Capital Campaign Kick-Off that will take place the weekend of October 15th/16th, which is on our Feast Day. We will be sending out more information/updates as things develop.
Let’s get excited! It will take all of us, with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ, to make this happen. St. Joseph is our patron for the Capital Campaign, so we ask him to guide us to do whatever the Lord wants us to accomplish. Not for what we want, but for help to understand God’s will for us and our future!
St. Joseph and St. Luke, pray for us…We Are St. Luke!
