Coffee and Donuts

Coffee and donuts served after 7:30am and 9:15am masses.

Be  a part of St. Luke's welcoming, fellowship sponsored by the Stewardship Council.

Requirements:

Friendly and Smiley faces to help set up and prepare for after mass coffee and donuts, Singles, couples, and families are invited to help.

Church Cleaning

Cleanliness is next to Godliness". Help to keep God's House sparkling clean and ready for mass celebrations.

Can you commit a few hours weekly or monthly to maintain our house?

Church Maintenance

Your church like your home always needs upkeep. Church repairs, maintenance of buildings and property always need carpenters, electricians, roofers, painters and general helpers to maintain our church.

Can you volunteer on a weekly, monthly or for special projects?

Volunteers can present themselves on Fridays, ask for Jack at the parish office.

Grounds Keeping

Workers always needed to maintain the landscape at St. Luke. Rotating teams (father/son or work with other team members) who mow, trim and weed.

Can you help with a short time commitment on a monthly basis from April thru October, or for special projects.

Equipment and supplies are furnished by the church.

Reception Committee

The parish reception committee is responsible for planning and implementing the food, beverages and environment for parish sacramental receptions, (i.e. Confirmation, First Eucharist,) and other clergy assignments which are sponsored by the parish.

Prayers and Devotions

Intercessory Prayer Circle

Be a part of a telephone prayer circle and help pray for a specific need. Requests are received and two or more pray together on the telephone for the needs.

First Saturday Adoration

Join us for a special 8:00am Mass in the chapel every first Saturday of the month with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction and Rosary.

Mary's People Prayer Group

Join us to pray the rosary and other prayers for the needs of the parish, especially those mentioned in the prayer basket located in the chapel and for individual needs.

Mondays after 9:00am Mass in the Chapel.

Security Group

Team of volunteers who secure church grounds & buildings on the weekends.

Spiritual Directions

Provides guidance and spiritual discernment of God in your life and assists you with your spiritual journey.

This ministry is certified through the Spiritual Direction Institute for Galveston-Houston Diocese.

The parish spiritual directors meet with persons one on one at their convenience.

Welcoming Committee

The Welcoming Committee was created by the Stewardship Council to provide a warm welcome to our parish newcomers.

The committee  makes contact with our newcomers by sending them a welcoming packet and follows with an invitation to a Welcoming Breakfast  Gathering, which includes a tour of the facilities. 

The clergy and many other ministry Leaders throughout the parish are also  on hand to meet and greet the new parishioners.  

This ministry of hospitality reminds us that all of us are on the same journey toward God; and our role as good stewards is to help others on their journey.

Dominic's Helpers

Your church, like your home, requires recurring upkeep. The church, social hall, and education building: the lawn, sprinkler, electrical and cooling systems require continuing service and repair. Talent in each of these areas is vital to ensure timely maintenance to preclude breakdown of expensive equipment. We encourage volunteers to supply any special talent on any day that fits your busy schedule. “We need you!”

Library

Helpers needed to check out and maintain parish library. Our parish library is established and provides Christian-oriented resources, references and general materials in the forms of books, periodicals, audiocassette tapes and video cassettes for all ages.

"The Flame"

This quarterly newsletter, mailed out to all registered parishioners, keeps us up-to-date on the sacramental life of the church. This publication focuses on stewardship as a way of life; it contains parish news and events, ministry and organizational news, wedding and other announcements of celebration. Assistance is always needed to collect information and/or prepare newsletter for mailing.

Celebrations Committee

Like to throw large parties? We are looking for interested people to plan and work on annual events within the parish. St. Luke Feast Day An annual celebration of St’ Luke’s Patron Saint for the entire community. Liturgical celebration and fun style entertainment, food, etc. Parish Appreciation Events Our annual Spring Fling and Volunteer Appreciation events are held annually to show appreciation to all St. Luke’s volunteers. Other Celebrations Special occasions as the need arises.

Childcare/Nursery

Do you enjoy working with children? Volunteers are needed to help with childcare beginning at three months of age. This service is provided for all weekend masses, special events and for meetings upon request. (LEAVE IN LITURY ALSO)

Sponsor Couples

This is a church-sponsored program where volunteers are able to share their faith and married-life experience. You may be a minister to a couple that is being prepared for marriage by a deacon or priest. Meets regularly at a convenient time for both couples.

L.I.G.H.T (Living in God's Holy Truth)

Is a St. Luke’s action-packed young adult program, and it is starting its 6th big year. L.I.G.H.T. includes Bible study, food, retreats, parties, prayer, and community service, all designed by and for those 18-30+. Wedding Ministers

"Wedding Ministers are assigned to couples preparing for marriage. They offer hospitality and assistance during the sacramental preparation. They are available to answer questions or concerns as they pertain to the wedding guidelines at St. Luke. They are also present at the rehearsal and the wedding to provide assistance to the wedding party and their guests".
