Music:

"Music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and to nourish and strengthen their interior commitment of faith. . . Music can also unveil a dimension of meaning and feeling. . . which words alone cannot yield."

( " Music in Catholic Worship", Bishops' Committee on the Liturgy, 1972 )

Art & Environment:

One part of the experience of hospitality is beauty: A space that is beautiful, objects that are beautiful, elevate the human spirit; welcoming us and welcoming our prayer. We have a team of volunteers who work to adorn the church for the various feasts and seasons. Some individuals study the liturgical norms concerning art and environment within the Catholic Church to foster the correct atmosphere and hospitable environment during liturgy.

If you are interested in assisting with Art and Environment or would like more information, please call the parish Liturgy Office at 281-481-6816, ext. 237.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EMCH) are lay ministers who assist the regular ministers of the Eucharist (the ordained) distribute the bread and wine to the faithful at the Mass, as well as bring the Body of Christ to those in hospital or confined to home. Our diocese requires that all EMCHs be at least 18 years old of age and in good standing with the Church. The church also requires that EMCHs be trained in the basic theology of the Eucharist as well as the proper handling of the Body and Blood of Christ. If you have any questions about your eligibility for becoming an EMCH please contact the Liturgy Office or the pastor.

If you are interested in becoming an Extra-ordinary Minister of the Eucharist, call the parish Liturgy Office at 281-481-6816, ext. 237.

Ministers of Hospitality at Liturgy:

Ministers of Hospitality aid in creating a climate of hospitable worship. It is the responsibility of all gathered, however, ministers of hospitality are called to set an example for the rest of the assembly. Ministers of hospitality serve the assembly in a variety of ways, from greeting the worshippers as they arrive, reaching out to visitors and newcomers with a helpful hand and welcoming smile, and facilitating the collection and processions.

The ministry of hospitality is of utmost importance because our worship will only be truly hospitable when everyone who gathers for liturgy reaches out to those around them with the love of Christ.

Training sessions are planned throughout the year for the various liturgical ministries. Music groups accept new members year round.

If you are interested in any of the opportunities available in the Liturgical and Music ministries, call the parish Liturgy Office at 281-481-6816, ext. 237.

Lectors (Proclaimers of the Word):

Proclaimers of the Word give human voice to the word of God in the assembly at Mass.

There is not an age requirement to become a proclaimer , however proclaimers must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

In addition to this requirement, those who participate in this ministry should have strong verbal and communication skills, be comfortable reading in front of a large group of people, and possess the willingness to commit oneself to the time, effort and study required for intelligent and sensitive proclamation.
