“I had it backwards!”
Juan and Anna Cortez are founding parishioners at St. Luke and Juan shared the following story with me. I always gave to the parish of our family money, I would write all the checks for the month and the last check I wrote was for St Luke. I had trouble paying my bills and making ends meet. At one point, I had to go out of the country to visit a sick family member. When I returned my daughter and my wife had paid all the bills for the month. When I looked at the checkbook I noticed that the first check they had written was to St. Luke. I wondered why but never did ask however it did make an impression on me and I saw it as a sign from God. The next month I decided to do the same — write the first check for the Lord and everything worked out. After I continued to give “God first” we never ran out of money. The Lord has blessed us and taken care of us and all our needs. He has blessed us with our family, health and with our business.
I am thankful that His sign made me see that “I had it backwards” and was able to get it right!
